We and Environment

Petrom management pays importance and major priority to the environment protection. Petrom company developed a program of objectives for long term:
- marketing of oil products with reduced sulphur level;
- decrease of pollution level;
- development of training programs for employees.

In the context of pollution reduction and national legislation for the environment's protection, Petrom adopted the concept of "clean technologies" and "green products". Oil products at Euro 4 and Euro 5 standards, as well as  Super 100, EURO Premium 95 and EURO Diesel have a reduced sulphur level, which means that noxa agents are less polluting, the engine is more protected and the carburant consumption is reduced.

 Advices

Driving a car in wintertime

- To avoid collision or skidding by sharp brake, the distance between cars should be longer and the speed should be reduced on slippery roads.
-
Reduce the speed near by the slides and the slapdash ice-rinks.
-
Don't operate sharply the direction and brake gears of the car.
-
Passing by cars in rain, sleet or snow, action in advance the screen wipers.
-
Be more vigilant with pedestrians in bad weather and cold days; in these periods they tend to be less careful.
-
Use cautiously the pedal brake on snow, ice or block frost. It's inadvisable to corner while braking.

How to use the carburant in a liable way:
- Accelerate and decelerate gradually. To slow down, remove from acceleration and keep the car in speed till it stops completely.
-
To reduce the fuel consumption, on the highway try to keep a constant speed.
-
Observe the speed limits. The difference between a 100 km/h and a 130 km/h drive will cost you  2 extra liters for each 100 km to go. Most cars have a  minimum fuel consumption at a speed from 50 km/h to 70 km/h.
-
Look periodically after the car and verify the noxa agents' exhausts.
-
Pay attention to the pressure in the wheels. A tyre with a pressure reduced by 25%, increase the resistance by 10% and the effective consumption by 2%.
-
Using the pedal brake, if the acceleration pedal is not pressed, no fuel is used.
-
Replace periodically the car air filter.
-
If you are blocked in the traffic or if you have to wait for somebody in the car, stop the engine.  In  20 seconds of stand with engine on, the car will consume more carburant than at stopping and starting the engine.
-
If you and your friends have the same direction to go, drive one car, instead of many.
-
Change the speed grades from 2.000 and 2.500  rotations/minute.

You and the environment
- 4 liters of motor oil (quantity from one motor oil change) and the antifreeze thrown in the outlet may pollute a perimeter twice bigger than a football field. Change the motor oil at the authorized centers.
-
Go by walk, by bicycle or drive many persons the same car, because the vehicles significantly pollute the air. Use public  transport  as often as possible. In average, for each liter of carburant consumed by the engine, more than 2,5 kg of CO2 are given off in the atmosphere.
-
Drive with adequate, constant speed, look well after the car, plan rounding routs to avoid the difficult traffic.  At 112 km/h speed the fuel consumption increases up 9% than at 96 km/h speed, and up to 15% at 80 km/h speed.
-
Plant a tree, because it occludes 1 tone of CO2 during its lifetime and produces oxygen, enough for three persons.
